Oxygen is a DeFi pools-based blockchain prime brokerage service. It is deployed on the Solana blockchain and the Serum on-chain infrastructure powers it. It aims to democratize borrow-lending by bringing the properties of prime brokerage services to the blockchain space. This is centered around connecting central market participants to each other, including hedge funds, pension funds, asset managers, liquidity providers, and more, in order to improve the efficiency of markets and price discovery.

The project hopes to offer and increase the accessibility of traditional financial services, often provided by investment banks, to everyone via blockchain technology. What are Oxygen’s key features and how does it work?

As mentioned, Oxygen seeks to offer a more efficient way to manage capital. It does this with the help of three distinctive ways. The first is allowing multiple uses of the same collateral. Users can earn a yield on their portfolios by lending out assets and borrowing other ones at the same time.

Secondly, cross-collateralization is supported by the protocol. Users can combine all the collateral across their portfolio to borrow other assets. This allows for lower margin calls and a smaller risk of portfolio liquidation. 

Lastly, Oxygen uses market-based pricing. Rather than following pre-set market models that must be manually adjusted, the platform is order-book based.

At the core of the Oxygen Prime Brokerage is the option to create pools with multiple assets. Users can create custom pools containing a variety of assets of their choosing, assets can then be lent or borrowed. Interest is either earned or paid accordingly. Interest is earned based on the overall portfolio rather than on individual assets. The Oxygen Prime Brokerage smart contract is developed in RUST and can be upgraded over time.

Users are able to interact with the protocol via three different channels. First, Oxygen features a wallet for Defi. Users can trade directly via the wallet as well as earn yield, borrow assets, vote and stake. Users can also access the services via the Oxygen API or alternatively via smart contracts based on the Solana Network.
