What Is Polygon CDK?

Polygon CDK is an open-source solution with a modular environment at its core. Developers can use CDK to run ZK-based Ethereum L2 networks or to convert existing L1 networks to L2. This is a continuation of the old Supernet concept.
Polygon CDK Advantages
-
Secure and near-instant interoperability with all other Polygon networks, enabled by LXLY Bridge;
-
Automatic, seamless access to the Polygon ecosystem's shared liquidity;
-
Fast access to all Ethereum liquidity;
-
Simplified proof-of-stake system for transactions;
-
ZK technologies for better security;
-
Modularity and customization, with the feature of creating private blockchains;
-
Data integrity and resilience, namely due to the fact that networks built with CDK will have a dedicated Data Availability Committee (DAC) that ensures reliable access to off-chain data.
If you are building a DeFi application for millions of active users, you can use Polygon CDK to build an independent Layer 2 blockchain. It will meet the specific requirements of your project, such as TPS, custom security parameters, gas fees, and token model.
Comparison With Competitors
What differentiates it from Arbitrum Orbit, ZK Stack and OP Stack is that with Polygon CDK, you can build ZK-Rollups instead of Optimistic Rollups. As you may already know, they have a number of advantages, which we have previously covered:
-
Faster transactions
-
Algorithmic transaction confirmation
-
High privacy
Many projects are already being built on Polygon CDK. For example, Manta Network has switched from OP Stack to Polygon CDK. Other notable blockchains include Canto, Astar, Immutable, IDEX, and Palm Network.
The Future of Polygon CDK
Polygon is not stopping at the implementation of CDK; the ecosystem will have a full-fledged transition to Polygon 2.0, where we will see the use of the new POL token across the entire ecosystem, as well as more decentralization and further transfer of governance to the community.
Additionally, yesterday it was announced that Polygon Village has launched a $90M fund for the development of the ecosystem.
Compared to the competitors, Polygon CDK looks like a more secure solution due to its adoption of ZK technologies. However, in terms of partnerships, they have yet to catch up with Optimism Collective. Out of the three solutions, which one do you think will come out on top? Only time will tell, but it's exciting to see what the future holds!
