Indeed, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed its alignment with a halt as it looks to negotiate a new trade deal with the United States.

The move comes just a day after the bloc agreed to the 25% import duty on US goods. “We took note of the announcement by President Trump,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said. “We want to give negotiations a chance,” she added.
“If negotiations are not satisfactory, our countermeasures will kick in. Preparatory work on further countermeasures continues. As I have said before, all options remain on the table,” the president concluded in a statement Thursday.
