FIFA Launches Ethereum-Compatible Blockchain, Migrates NFT Platform from Algorand

FIFA Introduces EVM-Supporting Blockchain for NFT Economy
FIFA officially announced the launch of a new blockchain network to support its growing non-fungible token (NFT) economy. On April 30, the “FIFA Blockchain” was launched with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) support and is positioned as a more scalable, feature-rich, and performance-driven platform for FIFA’s digital collectibles and fan experiences.
This blockchain is set to be the new home for FIFA Collect, the federation’s official NFT platform. As per the press release, FIFA Collect will move to the FIFA Blockchain as it seeks to develop functionality, head towards added feature development, and provide a fluid, future-resistant Web3 experience to the user.
FIFA Collect to Make Algorand Switch to FIFA Blockchain
Now powered by the Algorand blockchain, FIFA Collect will transition to the FIFA Blockchain no earlier than May 20, 2025. FIFA ensured that nothing needs to be done by users at present. Easy, step-by-step instructions will be released nearer to the migration date to ensure smooth migration for all holders of NFTs.
This move is another step in FIFA’s Web3 strategy, which confirms its commitment to long-term blockchain innovation.
Wallet Compatibility and Listing Details
Following the migration, Pera and Defly wallet support based on Algorand will be discontinued. FIFA Collect will instead be accessed via EVM-compatible wallets like MetaMask or other WalletConnect-enabled wallets.
NFTs that have been listed on FIFA Collect will be automatically reflected on the new platform unless they are delisted by users before the migration.
FIFA’s Web3 Vision Gains Momentum
The FIFA Blockchain launch signals an even broader aim to further involve global fans through decentralized technology. EVM compatibility opens up the potential for more diverse dApps and smart contract functionality integration.
By embracing Ethereum’s infrastructure, FIFA is positioning its digital collectibles platform in one of Web3’s most widely adopted ecosystems, highlighting its sports innovation leadership.
